SketchUp Viewer 2025?

What is the latest version of the SketchUp Desktop Application? And where can I download it from?

I keep getting navigated through various pages and end up back on the XR & Mobile App page, with no Desktop Viewer.

We have encountered an issue when using our current version (2022.0.354) when sending a 2025 SketchUp model.

Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thank you.

The viewer isn’t being updated any more. Can you give a small example 2025 file, that doesn’t open in the 2022 viewer?

The 2022 viewer won’t show the new features that are in 2025, but in 2024 or 2025 you can share a link to the model, for people to view in a browser. That may not be enough for very large models, but at least the new features would be visible in more moderate sized models.

Thank you, Colin. I will reply via private message as it’s not a project I can share currently.

I’ve been sharing large files for years so is this option no longer available now that I have updated to 2025?

The viewer from 2021 onwards should be able to open SketchUp 2022 and later files, including 2025 files. If you want someone to see the model with the latest 2025 visual features, you would either need to share a smaller model that they can view in the web player, or you would need to share your screen with them, via Zoom for example.

hello Colin, any idea if the android viewer will be updated ? It still can’t open latest versions and its rating is unsurprisingly dropping (2.5 stars as I write this)

On other threads it was said « unlikely »

Android is a mess because it’s a ocean of versions, extra layers added by companies…

You’re better off just sending a browser share link, because it seems to be low priority

That’s an all-too-easy excuse, and I don’t see how overlays are a real problem.
Sorry for cluttering a topic that’s more about the desktop version, but the fact is, more and more users (myself included) are complaining about recent difficulties just trying to view a model—whether on desktop or mobile. Saying “just share your screen on Zoom” is not a relevant answer. Not everything (thanks god!) go through video calls - yet.

I find the link sharing feature very convenient, but honestly, it’s a mess. There are two viewers—the Trimble Visualizer, which is ugly, not user-friendly, and far from the SketchUp spirit. And on top of that, you’re forced to save the file to the cloud and create a whole new folder structure just to stay organized. It’s going to turn off a lot of people. Nothing will ever be as simple as sending a model by email and opening it directly. Once you have it, you open it—even if you’re on a job site in the middle of nowhere or in a basement with no signal.

Honestly, I’m really happy with the ability to view models in a browser from a computer, even if slow with big models, and if it worked the same everywhere, that would be great. But have you tried it from a non-iphone ? Multitouch doesn’t work, you can’t pinch to zoom, the interface isn’t optimized and hides everything…
And if you shared the link from the wrong place (like via Trimble Connect), there’s a conversion process that can take forever (I just experienced it myself with a simple cube), you lose scenes, etc. I can’t even imagine what users go through with a 100MB+ model.

Before, when meeting with a client, I could say: “Hold on, with this great tool, I can show you the model in real time on my phone, and it’ll make everything instantly clear to you!” Boom, the file is already saved, wherever I want.
Now it’s more like: “Oh bugger, I forgot to save it in an older version with a non-official extension,” or “Too bad we don’t have a signal—I can’t even do the conversion, which would’ve taken 15 minutes anyway.” So we just drop it. And that’s what’s happening with all the users asking how to go back to what once made SketchUp super convenient. Even the ones using older sketchup versions have troubles since uploading their models on trimble’s cloud converts them into something not readable.

Not a priority? Okay, but let me just remind you that as of the end of 2024, Android is used by 71.17% of mobile and tablet users worldwide.
Maybe it’s time to take another look.

PS : I’m replying to your message, but please don’t take it personally — I know you’re just passing along their statements. I’m simply trying to help improve the user experience, hoping this feedback eventually reaches their team, through Colin.
