SketchUp - Referenced SU Models - TAG Folders

I’m on Mac too, and it’s working. Are you planning to include these modifications within the plugin in Extension Warehouse?

Yes. It is submitted so I should hear back soon whether or not it has been accepted. I’ll post here when I know. @Blatter_DuBois confirmed an earlier version works with his extension and we’ll try to make this compatible was well.

There are a couple of changes to the UI (a bit busy, but…). Here’s the gist:

Updated version is now published: Tag and Folder Profiles | SketchUp Extension Warehouse

If the buttons are confusing:

Model View - is what’s in the SU Tag Panel. This is what will be saved.
Preview - Displays saved profiles without needing to load them.

Thanks, going to try it right now

Keep an eye out for Tag and Folder Tools. I plan to submit it later today. Mainly stylistic changes but it’ll be the one I update moving forward.

Need to check in with again with Nicholas to make sure our extensions are working together. But if you like his menu utility they should play together nicely in the (near) future.

I recently had an experience where I tried to use a saved profile to import into an existing file that had some but not all of the existing Tag folders, and the result was some duplication that I also couldn’t fix. That seems consistent in some way with this discussion.

Was that with the latest version of the extension? I’ve seen a problem like what you described but I thought it was fixed. I’m going to submit a new/different version and want to stick with that… but I did fix some selection logic in the Profiles version. Maybe I need to look at it again…?

I don’t know. It’s hard to really know what version I have.

Thanks Robert.

2.1.5 is the version that’s on EW. I have a note on 2.1.4 for an ‘extra folders’ bug. I can’t find the issue now.

But it’s supposed to load tags and folders into the SU Tag panel with what’s already there. So, duplicates (of what’s already in the SU file) would be expected. Is the problem folder a default folder named “Tag Folder”? The “couldn’t fix” part of your message is concerning… I would definitely want to fix that.

James, I forgot to tell you that it’s working fine on my side, even colors.

Gracias

PS I’m on Mac OS and the plugin compatibility is published for Windows OS, so I lost the icon image on my system.

Thanks for the update, Charevir. I’m glad to hear it’s working.

If you’re interested, another extension went up in EW: Tag and Folder Tools | SketchUp Extension Warehouse The UI is better: Modus, dark mode, tag and folder creation. Curious to find out if it works on Mac.

James, OK! I’m going to try it tonight, and then I’ll let you know how it works on Mac. Does this plugin replace the Tag and Folder Profiles? I’m asking because this week I shared this plugin within a Brazilian community, as some people were having trouble copying the tags and folders from the templates to a new file.

Charevir - yes, it does replace that extension. Tag and Folder Tools will be the one I update moving forward. Actually version 2.0.6 is on EW but I have a newer 2.0.8 version that I’ll submit soon. Maybe I’ll see if I can support Portuguese in version…

James, I’ve already tested it, and it’s working as well. As in the previous version, the toolbar doesn’t display the thumbnail. The folder and tag structure within the plugin window is sorted in descending order, unlike SketchUp’s tag tray.

Thanks again

Thanks for the update and info. I made a change that may get the icon to display. Otherwise, let’s consider this my formal acceptance of a Mac, an iPad (with scanner) and a free lifetime subscription to Studio from SU/Trimble should they offer these things for testing

Slight delay with updating due to language barrier…

Oh! I like the music. In the Portuguese version of SketchUp, “Etiquetas” is used instead of Tags.

Thank you

Plenty of good music to be had when trying to get “Etiquetas” into the extension… will make that change. I’m not sure at all that this will work with Mac. But that tune is catchy so we’re on the right path.

Okay, I think I un-goofed it. Quick look with corrections. If you see any terminology that should change let me know. Otherwise we will have to blame Deep-L language translator and move on.

James, I think it’s good to go, look foward for it.
