Sketchup projected graphics to curved surfaces

Sketchup 2026 Mac (M1)

I am projecting a graphic onto a curved surface. When I do this the graphic does curve to the surface but it deletes the material for the rest of the surface - see white area in image. How to fix?

The graphic is the entire rectangle including the transparent pixels around the outside of the arch. Edit the texture in an external image editor and apply the other material where the transparent areas are.

Thanks Dave.

Ok Understand.

But difficult to apply the same materials in sketchup to an external graphic image and get them to align. Basically the same back ground materials used in sketchup have to be used in the graphic image…difficult . Thanks

Intersect an arched rectangle with the curved surface the same size as your image, then project the image onto the face within the intersection.

When I place my image as a texture it deletes the surface material.?

You can’t project an image so it must be a texture already.

It shouldn’t be that difficult. I did it in my SketchUp model with a random PNG I found in a Google search and a material in one of my material collections.

You could also do as Box indicated.

Cannot get it to work. Every time I place the graphic as a texture on the rectangle in front of my curved surface it deletes the surface material. I dont know why.

Unlike your blue logo with the speckled material background.

how to keep surface texture when adding the logo as a texture. ?

As I told you in my first reply your graphic is a material with transparent pixels. My first screenshot shows a texture with transparent pixels, too. When you project the material to the surface the transparent pixels get projected, too. You need to either replace the transparent pixels with the other texture in the graphic material as I showed or you can do what Box described and trace the curve of the arch so you wind up with a face you can extrude through the surface dand intersect to create the shape of the non transparent part of the material.

As I said, edit the image of the logo in an external image editor to combine it with the other texture. In SketchUp’s Settings you can set up the default image editor. Then you can open the texture in the In Model materials and open it in that editor. Open both so you can copy the background material to combine with the logo image.

You should have also tried the method Box explained to you.

Applying an image (texture) onto a curved textured surface in SketchUp.

Super clever. Thanks
