Hi everyone,
I am really annoyed by the decision to make users to force update. I am not in a trial, despite saying so, but now, in the middle of a working day I can’t log in and use my current version of Pro 2023. Why? I was never forced to update before. I was happy keeping the previous version for as long as I wanted…
You’re not being forced to update. That won’t happen.
Click on the account icon (upper right) and either Sign Out and sign in, or select Manage Licensing to make sure everything is correct and you’re signed in again. If your license is active, you should be up and running again momentarily.
I did try that and was being prompted to that screen, over and over again. I did revoke my licenses, signed out, restarted the mac and still was showing. Updated and now I can work normally. The only thing I am happy about is that they seemed to have ported over my shortcuts, so less hassle to update this time around.
You shouldn’t have to update, there is no forced update. In fact, you can have both 2023 and 2024 installed separately. The login is the same on both.
While that has been the truth, I can’t simply use my 2023 version anymore. Only the 2024 version is working for me now. I could try and see if. I can use 2022, but for now, 2023 is unusable for me.
It has been the truth, and it remains the truth still. You can use the 2023 version, you just have to make sure you’re signed in with the right credentials and not exceeding your seat assignments.
Look, I understand that that might be factual, but for some reason is just not happening with me. I already signed off, revoked all devices, logged back in, restarted the machine and I always get the prompt to update. I am not asking anything, I am just stating what is happening with me. Is this a bug or something from an update? I don’t know, but doesn’t matter, because it is indeed happening.
Why don’t you try to download again SketchUp 2023? It seems that is a trial version as it says in your screen capture.
No it’s not. You didn’t update 2023.
Any reason you want to stay back a version?
I have used the 2023 version since release day. I wouldn’t know why it would be a trial version. I pay yearly for my pro license.
My main issue was tweaking the new version, like shortcuts and templates for my daily usage. Now, 2024 seemed to finally have imported shortcuts, so the only thing I had to change was template settings.
You can install any version that you have an installer for. Its a good idea to keep the older version installers in the event you need to do a repair. With the early bugs in 2024 I installed 2023 and 2022 and sometime use them when I have issues. Another tip is to save scrapbooks, templates, styles, materials and components as an older version. I use 2022 and then copy those folders to the newer install folders. Some components with newer features like snaps still have the snaps in a saved as 2022 file they just dont function as snaps, but when opened in 2023 or 24 they work fine. I expected a crash in those instances but its pretty solid.
Hi,
the same thing happen to me a week ago, the licensed are activated, the log in was correct but still keep popping up to update. I am with Sketch up Pro 2023.
Have you fix the issue of asking to update? Is there any way to get rid of this issue? Thank you in advance.
Go Window/Preferences/General and Untick Allow checking for update.
I cant’t go there, since the program was asking me to update. No option to go there and change the preference.
What worked for me was to install the 2024 version, set up everything, and then restart my computer, deactivate all logins from other devices, open the 2023 version and sign in agin. This although is temporary as it prompted me to update again within a couple of weeks.
