My Sketchup is a subscription version 2022, and I try to check for updates in Sketchup and say that it is already the latest version.

That Check for Updates thing is only for maintenance releases of the same version. Go to sketchup.com and get 2023 to install.

because 23 is technically not an update of 22, it’s a new software. what’s the point ?

you can have several versions installed at the same time. just in case, or maybe because you need an old version for a specifi tool
