Hello guys,

Is the license from SketchUp 2017 can be backward compatible?

I am trying to use it for SU2016 due to VRAY capabilities.

No. The license is version specific. You would need a different license for SU2016. Contact Customer Support to see if they would sell you a license for an older version.

I hope it is OK to use this old thread. I am having the same problem. I have installed Sketchup on a new computer and my licence is not recognized. I have managed until now with the free trial, but now that has expired. My licence starts with QA and I have tried to change to RA and remove initial 001. I think I started with 2015 and upgraded to 2016 Pro. When I enter serial # and code and presses “Add licence” button nothing happens.

SketchUp license numbers were version-specific and tied to a registration with trimble’s servers. You can’t convert it to a different version by editing it.

OK, it was just a desperate move since it was suggested in this thread.

The bottom line is: I paid for a 2016 Pro licence and I don’t require any update. I think I should still be able to use it.
