Sketchup model has disappeared, all components are still there but I can't see anything

My sketchup model has disappeared and no matter what I try nothing is fixing it. All the components are still being listed as there but all I see is a grey screen, even when I try and export it as a jpg or pdf. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

There’s nothing we can do to help you unless you share the .skp file.

Your forum profile says you are using SketchUp 2026 on Mac but your screenshot is from SketchUp 2025 on Windows. Which are you really using? What graphics card?

I was running it on mac, and tried to open it on multiple different devices after the issue happened. I’m just uploading the community post from a windows device.

hopefully the link works

You have to make the file available.

has this made it available?

Let try to open the Outliner, then try to delete groups/components. I believe one of them causing the issue. Once they deleted, the view will be back to normal.

It’s available but since @Cyentruk is helping you I’ll leave it to him.

The last thing I was doing is trying to resize the light component before the issue happened, I’ve deleted all the light components that I used but the grey screen is still there

The camera has gone off to infinity due to some group that is similarly beyond the solar system. I’ll see if I can repair it. I note that the model contains an absurd number of components (13210), likely from trees or other plants, that are making the model somewhat heavy and unwieldy.

Ok thank you, please try and do whatever you can. It happened at the worst possible moment

I had to erase the offender, but here’s what remained:

Note that there is a “indian seating” group at the origin, far from the rest of the model. But I don’t think that is causing any problem other than being in the wrong spot.

Thank you so much! If you don’t mind me asking what do you think the issue was with the model?

I’ve checked your file and identified the issue.
All geometry is located extremely far from the origin.

I’m trying to restore the model using code, but haven’t succeeded yet.

I haven’t gone back to dig in further, but I suspect that something nested in the problem group somehow got its transformation fried and that left SketchUp very confused. I deleted that group then ran SWilliams’s model repair and finally selected all, copied, and pasted into a blank model. That last step was what brought things back into visibility.

No that’s perfect. Sorry it took me so long to respond, I’d started working on the file again. Thank you so much for your help! You’re a lifesaver, I really appreciate it!
