SketchUp Layout 2026 Bug | Black Bars in the Main Viewport

This is my first time using Layout 2026 (version 26.1.252 64-bit), and the page space does not fill the main viewport.

Here’s a video:

I was hoping to use the new 2026 to build the page layouts for my graphic novel that uses Sketchup for most of what might be 360 pages.

My specs:

  • Windows 11
  • Nvidia 3090 FE
  • 3 Monitors
    • All Scaled at 125% (recommended)

Any thoughts on how I can fix this? Thanks!

Are you using multiple monitors?

Are your Nvidia drivers up to date (from Nvidia, not windows)?

What happens if you turn on or off the experimental graphics engine in settings?

Did 2025 work properly?

Does this happen in smaller files? Maybe with just one or a couple of plages? Can you share a LayOut file so we can try it with other hardware to see what we get?

@bmike I have 3 monitors. All drivers up to date from Nvidia.

@DaveR It happens in a blank file.

SOLUTION:

@bmike had the best suggestion. Turning on the experimental graphics engine did the trick.

Thanks!

I’m glad you have a solution. It’s interesting to me that this happens with the new graphics engine with the graphics card you list. I sure wouldn’t expect that.

@adam might be interested in this. And maybe it’s an issue with the current graphics drivers from nVidia. Might make sense to keep an eye open for updates and test periodically when nVidia does update their drivers.

Might also be something stupid like you just need to do a power off reboot.

My machine did freeze up during a SketchUp render and I had to reboot. But it’s specifically the experimental graphics engine option. Turning it off brings back the problem.

Just to add more data to the issue, it might be because I’m running 3 monitors: two connected to my Nvidia card and a smaller HD monitor connected to my Intel graphics port.

Turning the experimental graphics engine OFF brings the problem back?

More for Adam to chew on.
