Sketchup lagging and freezing

Hi all,

I have been using Sketchup for a year without any errors, however, since swapping gpu from AMD rx 6600 to Nvidia 1080ti and having all drivers updated, sketchup is running horrendously with no model drawn. It can take 2 minutes for a line to appear, and it freezes constantly. I have installed the new 2026 version, adjusted display settings, closed background tasks, reinstalled sketchup from ssd to nvme, reinstalled drivers and adjusted gpu overclocking to factory standard.

My system is “old” but it was more than capable with my previous (weaker) gpu as it worked with minimal lag for over 12 months. My pc also runs many other highly demanding apps/games with surprisingly great performance

I cannot figure it out and need help, any help is very much appreciated as I am quite stuck.

To start with, run DDU Display Driver Uninstaller. Then configure the Nivdia settings.

I have cleared all AMD drivers and leftovers, but the issue is still occurring

Try changing the display resolution.

I seem to remember other users having issues when the vertical resolution is 1440.
The problem is in the Qt libraries that SketchUp is using on Windows for the past couple of releases.

You might also try changing display scaling in Windows Settings > Display.

Sounds annoying!

That sounds like quite a big issue that would really need some digging down into your PC to figure out - if it’s only occurred after a GPU change then DDU should have reset that component

Personally I’d just run an in place upgrade for windows How to run In-place upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Q&A
