I have one problem. My SketchUp works good at start, but after model become little bigger it start lagging. Orbit is not smooth and sometimes simple move tool also feel slow.
My PC is not very old, so I am not sure if problem is model, extensions or SketchUp settings.
What things you check first when project become heavy? Do you use components, purge unused, proxy models or any other workflow?
I want to know real tips from people who work on large projects every day.
What version of SketchUp are you really using? Your profile seems to be contradictory. What version of Windows are you using? What graphics card? “7” doesn’t answer that question.
If you are using the free web version, it could be your web browser.
Many time when users complain of performance problems it turns out they failed to keep their model under control and have filled it overly detailed entourage from the 3D Warehouse. Fixing that requires dealing with the file bloat.

Personally, as an architect, I try to keep my models as clean as possible by using lightweight geometry and textures.
Actually, I got tired of dealing with heavy geometry and textures because my SketchUp sessions would gradually become slower on large production projects. I wanted to solve that problem for myself, so I built a tool.
Now, before every render or client delivery, I simply run an automatic scan on my models. It gives me instant feedback, helps me fix potential issues, and lets me see exactly where the model is heading, so I can stay on the safe side of model quality.
If you’d like to try it, it’s called nEVEn (uneven)
