Hello all,
I’m struggling to use Sketch Up for Schools program (not the web-based app). When I launch the program, it only allows me to log in using a microsoft account, but my “school log in” account is tied to Google.
Is there something that needs to be toggled for this option? At school, the program offers it, no problem.

Hi @gw18smithmatthew thanks for the post. The web app is the only version of SketchUp for Schools we offer. We do offer a non web based app but that particular app is only available as a paid option these days. If you did not pay for a license then you won’t have access to the non web based offering.
If you are unable to access SketchUp for Schools via a web browser then there could be a number of issues preventing it and I am happy to work with you to see if we can find the issue but without knowing more details or seeing a screenshot of any error messages I can’t exactly offer any particular advice on what the problem might be.
Interesting - I have a Trimble account with my school’s G-Suite. at school I have sketchup downloaded and when I first launched it, I was given the option to log in with microsoft or google. I used my school credentials, and it fired right up. My home computer only shows Microsoft credential log-in.
I guess the school has another license for the desktop. it’s Sketchup Make 2016, so there might be something.

Ah, that would explain a lot. The school version is very old and no longer supported. I am honestly a bit surprised that the school is still using that version but I suppose they have a good reason for that.
All versions of SketchUp Make use a different licensing process so that would definitely be part of the issue. While we no longer offer the SketchUp Make installer for a number of reasons, you can still find the installer for it on third party websites if you really need to use it. I don’t recommend that though as there is no way to verify that the installer has not been tampered with and as it has not been updated for a number of years, there will be bugs or other issues as it was not designed for more current operating systems.
