I have just started using SU for ipad, after previously using it on the desktop, and spent hours yesterday drawing my model. I occasionally clicked on ‘save’ and was also reminded a couple of times by autosave. Yet when I came to it this morning everything I did yesterday had disappeared. Is there a way of retrieving my work? How can I make sure this doesn’t happen again? Thanks.
Which version of the iPad app are you using? A few versions ago there was a problem that could lead to losing local models, but that problem has been fixed for quit a while now.
Thanks for answering. It’s a 4th generation ipad air, IOS 18.6.
I believe Colin was asking for the version of the SketchUp app.
Oh sorry, I don’t know but I only downloaded it a few days ago, so I’m assuming it’s the newest version? How do I check?
Ah I’ve just found it. It’s version 7.0.2(2172)
It may not help with the missing file, but 7.1 went live yesterday. You could update the app and get new features, and any recent fixes.
@Cellorac I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’ve run into. I have some ideas that might help, but need to understand a few things first. Do I understand correctly that you were working on a SketchUp model on your desktop for several hours, saved and then went to work on the file on iPad? Or were you working on iPad the entire time when you lost your work? One last quesiton, do you know if you saved this file to Trimble Connect?
Hi Rene, I was working entirely on the ipad. I signed into Trimble when downloading the app and had assumed that the files would automatically be accessible wherever I next signed into Trimble. I didn’t realise that you have to spell it out. But I still can’t understand why SU on the ipad lost nearly all the changes I’d made. The only things that were retained were some groups I’d made, which I think may have been the previous day.
