I was working on sketchup pro under the sketch up studio license on a 2023 macbook pro with M3 chip and the system crashed resulting in all project files showing the attached menu saying file not found or invalid. Is anyone able to recover this file and or give advice on how to avoid this in the future. Even previous saves are having the same issue.
Drawing 1.01.skp (249.5 KB)
Drawing 1.01~.skp (371.7 KB)
your file opens in my 2026.
Iāll copy the content in a new file just in case.

are you using the icloud storage thing for your files ? if so, could be that your mac is trying to open the cloud version when you double click on your file.
Iāve seen that once, someone could only open their file when offline, because then mac os didnāt try to open a āmore recentā broken version from icloud.
Thank you based on some other files having this issue and that I use iCloud I think this is the problem. Unfortunately on this Mac even loading offline isnāt working but this gives me something to play with so Iāll keep trying.
If the file is allready corrupted by iCloud, then downloading and opening locally will not work obviously.
Make it a habit to save and open your SketchUp files local. You can always use iCloud as a backup but make sure the sync doesnāt happen during opening or saving in SketchUp..
Even better is to use Trimble Connect, itās included in your subscription and safer than any other cloud solution.
