Sketchup Crashing after Windows update January 2025

Hi. Lately I got this error when saving a large model.

Switching to the classic engine is killing my proffesional activity as I work with huge models. Is there any quick fix for that ? Or when should I expect one ?

Thank you.

I haven’t had any issues with 2024 crashing after that Windows update. Try the following:

Go to the Nvidia site and get their latest drivers for your video card and install it. Make sure you have the latest version of SketchUp 2024 and make sure it was installed correctly. do a repair to make sure. Right click on the downloaded installer, choose Run as administrator, and choose Repair when the option is presented. After that, do a cold reboot of your computer and then see what happens. Make sure SketchUp is set up to use the Nvidia graphics in Preferences>Graphics.

I just did all that. I see now that GForce Experience was replaced by nVidia App. I updated the drivers and repair the Sketchup file system. Now I see a strange pattern. Now it crashes at the second save. So I open the model work on it a little bit then save. Everything is ok but if I work a little bit more and then save it crashes on save. I was able to replicate this behaviour for about 4 times. Thanks

I’m having the same problem, and when i changed graphics engine its runnning very slow as i also work with huge models. Any sign of sketch up doing an update to fix the problem.

Hi Gilldesign, I contacted TechSupport and got a reply in 1 day. I reinstalled Sketchup (but before deleteing some system folders in AppData - tech will guide you through). Do you get a BugSplatt screen ? If so please click send report - this way you will get a crash number (it will be easier for tech support to track the problem). It worked on my side and now I don’t have any crashes. Thanks.

its not crashing anymore since i changed the graphic engine to classic , but running very slow, for example if I select a something it takes 30 seconds to register that I’ve selected it and then if I go to edit or move it it again takes ages to register the command, very frustrating.
