Sketchup Crashes with any delete action while in zoom

I am still using Sketchup 2017 resident on my machine. I am a basic user and have a building layout. There has been many copies of this original file as we explore various options. Not sure if this has anything to do with my problem. At this point, if I zoom in to delete a line the design crashes, everything except text disappears and all text collapses on top of each other in one space. Basically, I can no longer edit this file. Any help is appreciated.

Actually if I just open the file and click on zoom extents icon the file crashes as described above. Delete action is not needed.

A lot of text labels seem to be in a confused state. Here is a screenshot to remind you of what they should look like:

Here is the model saved without those labels:

You would need to remake the labels.

Thanks. I can still open the original file and was able to make changes but it was difficult.

How should I redo the text labels to avoid this problem?

How does one add text so it is tied to a location? My text does not move with drawing, when I zoom in out.

Thanks again

I noticed that, and that may be part of the problem. This shows you one approach:

In there I have set the text to be a particular height (4 feet), I connected it to some geometry, and then in entity info there is an option to make the leader be Hidden. Doing those things will give you labels that stay where they should be, and they will scale as you zoom out.

Thanks. Will definitely give this a try.
