Not necessarily true. They have been on the list and have posted in regards to the Big Sur update and SketchUp. I do have to say that the driver install is so much easier now. They killed it.
In another topic @ngomes said they donāt. But by pinging him as I just did, maybe heāll notice.
Most likely you have a conflict with you wireless devices. I would run your SpaceMouse plugged in without the wireless dongle.
Thank you, sir. That did it. It is now working with SketchUp Pro 2021.
A friend of mine tried very hard to make his SpaceMouse Pro wireless work in SU with the latest Mac beta r3274. Only zoom and pan were working.
After many trials, re-installs, restart, unplug the receiver and what not, (and a break),
in SU, I opened system prefs, 3Dconnexion pane, Add Application, select SU 2021, select SketchUp in the list (the second one) and hit āUse defaultsā. It finally works fine.
Sir
Thank you very much. That seems to have worked. I never would have thought to try that, but I will write it down for posterity.
Have a Very Happy Thanksgiving.
Running High Sierra, copied the Sketchup 2020 plugins folder (application support) to SU21, tired the Systems Preference 3DConnexion app, add SU21, use defaults - still not working. Removed and reinstalled driver from 3Dconnexion site. (wired) space mouse works under 2020 still. Driving me nuts (as it does every time thereās an upgrade). Anyone got any ideas?
Iām running Big Sur but you might try this: While in SU, I opened the computer system prefs, 3Dconnexion pane (at the bottom), Add Application, select SketchUp in the list (the second one) and hit āUse defaultsā. It finally worked for me.
As I said, tried that and no joy. Aaron said he copied the 2020 Plugins folder to 2021 but thereās no plugin showing in 2020 to copy. Not sure where or how 3Dconnexion park or implement the driver - anyone know?
Itās in the global /Library not your personal ~/Library
Edit: I was on my phone before. The full path is
/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 202x/SketchUp/Plugins
You need to copy 3DxSketchUp.rb and the 3DxSketchUp folder including all its contents.
Edit2: The folder probably doesnāt exist until you create it. You may need to do some permission tweaking, as the required folder is not writable by default.
Ahh - yes, I remember. Trouble with using a mac is you forget how to navigate the guts of the operating system because you never have to do it. Thanks for the steer Steve
A friend was cursing after installing, if I remember right, Flash, on her Mac and it refused to work. I asked her: āDid you turn off and restart your Mac?ā She retorted: āMacs never have to be restarted!ā but did so anyway, and it started working.
A common misstatement, as Macs rarely need to be restarted. The main instances are when installing OS updates or apps that use kernel/system extensions. But it is nonetheless a good idea every now and then, as some things hang onto resources until you reboot, and on occasion itās the only way to get something unstuck.
Extensions installed in /Library are available for all users, whereas ones in ~/Library are for only this user. Up to version 8, all SketchUp extensions installed in /LIbrary, but recognizing that most Macs are single-user, that has today become uncommon. So single-user Mac owners tend to forget about that alternative.
For reasons known only to them, 3DConnexion puts their extension in the global folder without giving you a choice between āinstall for all usersā and āinstall for this userā.
