Sketchup 26 windows 11 install - blocked by Windows

trying to setup vray distributed renderer on my desktop and use it’s video card instead of the laptops 4070m card. I logged into my account downloaded the file (1,060,149 KB) but Windows throws an error

“Smart app control blocked an app that may be unsafe”

Any idea what is going on? I just updated to 26 on my laptop where I do most of my work and did not see any issues.

I can bypass this but wanted to make sure there has not been anything compromised on the Sketchup side/site/download side.

Thanks

-Jim

I understand the thing you have problems with is by Chaos (maker of V-Ray) not SketchUp. It sounds like your security software is blocking the install because the app wants to use resources across the network. If you are in a corporate environment you would have to contact your own IT staff for help. Otherwise you could try contacting Chaos support for instructions, or, if you feel adventurous, bypass the warning.

This is for the actual sketchup exe that I was trying to install to then install vray on that box for rendering. Now with all that said, on my main laptop, my vray lic is saying it’s not valid when my renewal is not up until Dec 28th??? not sure what is going on.

I’ve seen a few like this - Microsoft has enabled “Smart app control” on your machine.

Smart App Control - Windows apps | Microsoft Learn

All you can do is disable that.

Thanks Elmtec just wanted to make sure SketchUp’s downloads were not compromised or unsigned. I would hope paying close to $900 a year now they would be signing their software.

I imagine they are signed but Microsoft’s algorithms ultimately have the final say - much like I occasionally get my anti-virus trying to quarantine other totally legitimate things.

It may be because this is a very new installer?

Microsoft only turned it on for everyone via windows update 3 weeks ago, so I guess that’s why there is a sudden uptck,
