I have a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021 M1) running macOS 13.3.1 where Sketchup pro 2022 won’t start. I’ve already deleted the plist files and reinstalled Sketchup but it won’t start. I also installed Sketchup 2023 but it won’t start either. Does anyone have any tips to solve this problem?
ok, taking a guess here, maybe your macos is configured in the secure mode where you’re supposed to install stuff only from the app store (hahahaha, who does that, seriously?)
instead of double clicking on the app, try right click / open. you should have a message like “oh, are you sure, it could be dangerous!” say yes.
if it works, then the following times, a simple double click will work, you bypassed the security.
you could also check this parameter, in security, scroll down a bit, and make sure you authorise non app store stuff too.
If you open Terminal, which is in Applications/Utilities, you can run SketchUp by pasting in this text:
/Applications/SketchUp\ 2022/SketchUp.app/Contents/MacOS/SketchUp
If you get a message saying it can’t be found, it means you have been running SketchUp from an unusual location. If it is found, it will either run ok, or there may be a message in the Terminal window that gives more clues about why it doesn’t run.
Try that test, and let us know what messages you see in the Terminal window.

I ran the terminal command on my mac and get the following messages in the Terminal window. Can you help me further to solve this problem based on these reports? I have also included a screenshot of what I see when I start my Sketchup.

Some of those errors were unexpected, but I see them as well, except for the Munchkin.init ones. Any idea where those come from?
Even with the errors I do then see the welcome screen and can start a new document. I wonder if the welcome screen cache is messed up.
In Finder, Go menu, Go to Folder, paste in this path:
~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2022
Delete any folders in there that start with “WebCache”, then try opening SketchUp normally.
I have no idea what (Munchkin.init) is. I deleted al the (WebCache) folders but that didn’t fix the problem.
hi there. fwiw, i am also experiencing this issue on an Apple M2 Air (running Ventura 13.4).
i’ve had this problem with both 2022 and 2023. using your instructions, colin, i’m able to launch via the terminal. but like the other poster, deleting the WebCache folder doesn’t do anything to alleviate the problem. for now, i’ll just launch via terminal, but would love to know if there’s any other resolution here.
