Sketchup 2020 Hardware Acceleration error on new Macbook Pro 13"

I have a brand new 13" Macbook Pro running Catalina (10.15.5). Just attempted to install Sketchup Pro 2020 and i’m getting the following error

“Hardware acceleration is unsupported or has been disabled on your “Apple Software Renderer” graphics card. SketchUp requires that you use a hardware accelerated graphics card.”

I have checked to make sure all updates are installed. The computer uses the Intel Iris Plus Graphics card. 2.3ghz Quad core i7 + 32GB memory. Really no way that this should be not be sufficient to run Sketchup.

The file you found was a general macOS crash log it seems, which may or may not be important. Turns out the important SketchUp log file is more deeply buried.

In Finder, choose Go/Go to Folder…
Paste or type:

/var/folders

and go to that folder. In the Finder window do a search for SketchUpLog-2020. When the search starts, click on “folders” to limit the search to where you are at the time.

In the few files that appear, send me the latest one, or all of them if you like, in a direct message (click my avatar to get to the Message option). The file includes exact personal file paths and other things that there is no need to put in the public forum page.

Has there been a resolution to this issue?

I just updated recently my MacPro (early 2008) to Catalina and tried to install SU 2020… and getting the same error message. Surely there must be a specific driver update found?

I am also curious if this has been resolved.

I have a MacBook Pro 2020 with Intel Iris Plus graphics. I am receiving the same “error” message from SU 2020.
