Hi. I would like to propose a group project to my students with SketchUp for schools. Is it possible to share projects so that different students can edit the same file? How can they share their work with me?
Thank you!
Hi @SylVig, thanks for the post. Currently due to technical limitations, we can’t have multiple editors in a single file simultaneously. We know this sort of thing has been a big request for not only the educational community but the professional one as well. If I recall correctly, Autodesk announced the idea was being worked on back in the 90s. We are still waiting for them to succeed in making a prototype or even a tech demo.
If you are looking to have everyone start in the same file, that can be done by sharing a file with your students via whatever storage solution you are using (Google or Microsoft).
Personally, when I assign students a group project, I tend to do something like assign them all a identical sized plot of land in a small suburban neighborhood and then have them create a house or small business that will fit in with the aesthetic of the neighbors. Alternatively, you could have them all create a section of a single building and then have them implement it all into a single file at the end. Really, the sky is the limit with this sort of thing as long as they have decent file management skills.
As for sharing their work, that is a little tricky as the app saves files directly to the student’s drive. They have to manually share it.
