Any news on when Sketchup will release the Sequoia update?
They usually does not announce the release before it is released. They are working on it.
The closest date I can predict:
One of the weeks after the next week.
Ps: Many users report using SU on Sequoia without any major issues.
Ps2: You are using Windows anyway…
Mac OS 15.2.1 was released last week. the original OS 15.1 date was Sept 16, 2024. Im surprised and a little peeved Sketchup has not provided an update yet, its been over three months. Im sure there are many unhappy Mac users out there. Sketchup pretty much crashes on launch using a 2019 Mac Pro with 64GB Ram
UPDATE: Im a ■■■■. The Sequioa update was not the problem. It was the file. Specifically the section panes which I deleted and the file worked just fine allowing me to finish the project. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
Presumably you’ve been using SketchUp at least since 2017. You should know by now that updates don’t come that quickly, especially at this time of year when they are surely in beta testing for the next major release. It’s late enough in the year that it’s unlikely that SketchUp 2024 will get any more updates.
BTW, your forum profile says you’re using Windows 10. Please update your forum profile.
Using it fine on my 2019 iMac with 64gb ram. But I am still running Sonoma. You don’t have to update the moment Apple releases something… and it’s usually better not to.
We’ve seen nothing this severe internally testing on Sequoia.
Please submit a report at https://help.sketchup.com/en/contact-support/technical-question/form along with the bugsplat details so we can check what’s causing this, thanks.
Hi Dave R,
Thanks for your reply and suggestion to update my profile. I usually keep the Mac updated as it does weird things if it’s not. Lesson learned, I’ll check with Sketchup before making any moves. I was in a panic because of a project Im working on for a client and couldnt make any progress. A Sketchup Team member has responded here, so Im gonna reach out to him.
Hi Dezmo, thank you for your reply and profile update suggestion. Upon further investigation, Im thinking the file is corrupted. I’ve tried the file on a laptop using Sonoma 14.7 and crash. Ive tried running Thom Thom’s cleanup tool. Any ideas? Id hate to have to recreate the model
You could share the model so we can try opening it on a different machine. It might behave better and we might be able to fix it if it is corrupted.
Turns out it was the file. Specifically section panes. Once deleted everything worked fine and I was able to finish the model. Adding section panes back in didnt seem to cause any issues
Hi All, Ive discovered Section panes are the culprits causing my crashes. If I have more than 4, files dont work, hopefully this is fixed in the 2025 update.
We have fixed something in the next update that is connected to doing paste operations that overlap section planes. That could happen with even one section plane.
I tried a model with lots of section planes, in SketchUp 2024, and didn’t see a problem. If you have a file that always goes wrong when you do certain steps, I could check if the other fix we did will help it.
