Hello All.
I am trying to move SketchUp onto a new computer, but Trimble keeps telling me i have too many activations. I run SU on my current lap top. 2024 version, that laptop also has a few unused versions from past updates. So Ill be uninstalling them in a bit. That could resolve it ?
That’s : instance 1. I have SU on the iPad . Instance 2. new laptop = instance 3 . I should be good to go from what i read on the website… If anybody knows the resolve for this issue it would be appreciated.
You don’t need to uninstall old versions, but you could open each one of them and make sure you are signed out. Then open SketchUp 2024 or 2025, and sign out if you are already signed in. When you next sign in you should have spare activations, because you signed out from older versions.
Cool. Thanks Colin. I’ll give that a try.
No Luck. Ends up. I only had 2023 and 2024 on the original laptop. the .exe was broken for the 2023 ? . So i uninstalled. then signed out of the 2024 version. then signed into 2024 on the old laptop again. No issue. on the old laptop all good.
I get the same message, " Too many activations " on the new laptop.
On the plan settings page it says available/seats = 0 total seats = 1. Shouldn’t total seats say 3 because i can use it on 3 computers. Ill be formatting the old laptop soon but it would be convenient to keep all running for a bit.
Thanks for your help with this.
You may have multiple accounts with multiple subscriptions - a common one is having a subscription you’ve paid for and a beta subscription.
Or a paid subscription and a trial
Make sure to do the de-activation on them both.
Seats are the number of actual paid subscriptions - so 1 sounds right on that account.
It would be interesting to try signing out from the old laptop and see if you can then sign out and sign in with the new machine. If that works, and you then go back to the old laptop, and now see the too many activations message, there is another copy of SketchUp signed in somewhere.
One thing, if 2023 is broken on the old machine, doing an uninstall will attempt to also sign out 2023.
Got it. SketchUp support provided a solution. delete a dat. file on each machine then basically start again. Worked , so all good. Thanks again .
