I placed seamless bricks on ruined walls. I deliberately used bricks without much drawing because otherwise blocks are clearly visible. I added cracks and plants to the entire wall in Photoshop and imported them as a texture. Yet I still see block formation of the seamless bricks. Suggestions how to prevent that.
Make a larger texture with more options to repeat it randomly.
Make your surfaces broken, hide the edges and carefully place textures to stop the pattern from repeating.
Use a rendering plugin to make the texture repeat / generate without obvious seams.
Mike’s suggestion to use a larger texture is spot on. No matter what you do, if the texture image is smaller that the wall you are applying it to and the bricks have any variations, you will get repetition.
I have made my own brick textures by photographing large walls of brick. This is one example.
At the size of that construction, even if you find a larger texture, it’s likely to be visible anyway when you repeat it.
You could try using a ‘brick’ texture generator, which you combine with another color/texture, and the transition between the two materials with a ‘noise’ texture, which creates an even more irregular surface in terms of color repetition and tiling.

Very interesting tips. I’m going to first try a photo of an existing large old wall.
