I’ve been following the screw tutorial on the SketchUp site:

In my model, part of the thread is a bit ragged. I’ve highlighted what I mean:

I’ve played around with it, but I can’t figure out where I’m going wrong. Can anyone shed some light on this?



I think the raggedness you are seeing boils down to the fact that SketchUp approximates circles and other curves with short straight lines. to reduce the ragged appearance you would need to increase the number of sides for the various circles and other arcs in your model.

Here I’ve used 48 sides for the circle, the helix and the chamfering cone and they look reasonably decent.
