I have a 3D Model, set different section cuts, align them and save them as scenes, so I can easily get them into layout as a floor plan or elevation.
I have a very unexpected behavior. I look at my saved scene, do a change, like “View-Axes”, save the changes to the scene, and when I go to a different scene, and back to this one the change did not save.
I had the same problem earlier today, and moved the whole model into a new file and everything worked again. Now I am having the same issue again.
Remember that a scene is a collection of settings:
Camera position and view including perspective or paralell projection
Shadows (time of day, date, etc)
Which Tags are on / off
Style (and Fog)
Hidden objects
Etc.
If you change something in the style, you need to update that style, or create a new one, then update the scene you want that style to affect (view axes, or back edges, or face style, etc.)
But the best thing to do is post the mode and someone will open it and try and help.
Thank you for the “Style” reminder. Problem solved. Earlier I had the same thing happened with section cuts, and it would’t save it the way I wanted do. But it looks like that was a style setting as well.
The best way to store settings on scenes though, is to use advanced settings on the scenes panel. Then, each time you change a particular aspect of any scene you just have to untick and tick back on the corresponding setting.
Unticking makes the scene forget that setting ticking back on makes the scene store the current setting.
Section example: if you make a section active in one scene you should discard section settings by unticking the box, then store current section settings by ticking section settings back on. The current active section is then stored and remembered each time you select that scene.
If you select several scenes in the panel and untick and tick back on, all those scenes will store the currently active section.
Of course if you’ve edited the style but not updated it, this method won’t update the style or create a new one and won’t prompt you with the warning message so you have to remember to manage the style correctly. Right clicking on the scene tab and selecting Update or clicking on the Update button in the Scenes panel will open that warning to prompt you to do the correct thing with the style, though.
