Thank you so kindly. I haven’t added anymore skm files to wallcoverings yet, but I follow the directions and now my skm paint files and wallcoverings appear in that folder. I’ll reach back when I have it functioning.
Thanks so much!

I apologize, but I may not know how to operate something. In preferences, I click on the file icon, and the file opens to my materials file, successfully. If I use “create a new collection” that link takes me to the empty materials files, and not the existing skm files. the default tray does not link me through to the preference file folder.
Further, I don’t have any selection to let me make a new folder in explorer. The correct file is in prefences, and so far, is not accessible from the default tray, nor can I create a file from the default tray, even though the prefernce file successfully links to the skm files.
What does ‘pair 1’ and ‘pair 2’ mean? what is that procedure?
Thanks,
Chris
So, it seems that I already have an skm file that I can not access through the materials tray.

I tried to copy content from the link from create a collection into the file thru the link from Preferences. The error message reads “these are the same files”
Any ideas?
Please upload a video with your workflow. You are mixing a lot of things.
The OP says that you want to access to material collections. But now you want to make your own materials.
Skm files are generated when you create new materials. You should start by learning the basics at The SketchUp Campus. This is a site that will provide the basics for learning the SketchUp modeling process.
I don’t understand this…
The skm files are accessible from the ‘Preferences’ folder link. they are not accessible from the ‘create or open’ link in the materials default tray.

What content?
What link?
What is your real problem, create new materials or include skm files?
hello, i just found your reply. my real problem is that skm files are not in the folder accessible from default tray–>create a new collection.
the folder accessible from ‘preferences’ does contain the skm files, which i need to use in model.

Yes, ive gone through sketchup campus. they have not mentioned accessing skm files. but thank you.
that information was included in the reply of another, I guess.
I give up, I was only trying to help you. Maybe the person who provided you with the material collections should be the one to assist you. Perhaps my level of knowledge in SketchUp isn’t adequate, or my English proficiency isn’t sufficient to fully understand your problem.
I just read your message, or I would have replied immediately that I very much am grateful for your attention to this seemingly minor issue. Thank you for your time.
I see you are advanced in your use of the program, but also with engineering. So, while I’m grateful, I’m also feeling a little low because I can’t access the fabrics I need. So, please excused any sense of frustration that may have projected in my replies.
Thank you, seriously,
Christina F.
