Pro 2015 - MAC el capitan-
getting SKM files into material browser
I placed a download into- library- application support-sketch up- and made a folder called materials
I can’t figure how to get the skm files into my model
HELP!
I’m a PC user, but I would think the procedure is the same from inside of SU. From the Details menu of the Material browser, pick Open or Create Collection and then navigate to the folder where you just put the .skm files. That will open the collection into the browser.
Or are the two platforms really so different?

If it was your /Users/ <your name > /Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2016/SketchUp/Materials folder that you made and placed a Folder of skm files…
i.e. Materials/My_Skms/my_new.skm
then access from the ‘Color’ browser dropdown menu item My_Skms…
