Safe Frame plugin not supported anymore?

Since a long while the highly useful Safe Frames plugin by Thomthom is not working for me anymore. I did my best to find other workarounds but for the current project I’m doing, I really need the functionality of the plugin.
For reference, this is what I’m getting:

I cannot see the safe frames and cannot change the ratio. I seem to still be able to export pictures without problems.

Would appreciate any input or tips about similar plugins.

I just installed it, in SU 2026 it looks like this and it works.

Oh wow! Thank you @mihai.s for taking the time and testing. It must be an issue on my end then, I will have a look.

Did you copy the extension from an old version of SketchUp? Seems kind of weird that the error message is referring to Netscape.

I always use the Dropzone plugin by Thomthom when I have to reinstall my plugins for a newer version of SketchUp. But I ensure the plugins are always updated. (I’m aware of the new migration tool for SketchUp, but old habits are hard to kill.)

Just uninstalled the plugin and re-downloaded both the TT-Library and Safe Frames. Sadly still getting the same error code again.

AI is suggesting updating Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. Just checked, and I’m running the latest version.

Interestingly, I also found this report by Thomthom about the exact same issue from 2014. My issue is not that old, I think it started some 3 years ago.

Interesting. But from what I read this isn’t a problem with the extension nor with SketchUp.

The problem arises in a javascript file named ui.js ( Line: 43)

Here’s a fix. Unzip the ui.js file from the attached zip file and place it in the folder below. With some luck you’ll be good to go.

ui.js.zip (2.2 KB)

C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 20XX\SketchUp\Plugins\su_safeframe\SKUI\js\

Hi all, it’s the next day. I checked the plugin on the PC at my workplace. It’s working perfectly fine…
So whatever it is, it’s definitely the PC at home.

@sWilliams thank you very much for that! I will check it out later this evening when I go home.

The code is checking that you aren’t using Internet Explorer 6 or 7 on an old Windows 7 computer.

@sWilliams I can’t thank you enough! :folded_hands:t2: This worked like a charm - no error codes, no obscured menu options. There already was a ui.js file in the directory you mentioned. I just replaced the file with your provided one. You saved me a quite a lot of manual postprocessing time. Thank you again!
