Safari Version 9.1 (11601.5.17.1) Errors

@Barry, @bugra, @Tommy

this sites links have gone to pot, it may be the Safari update…

SecurityError: DOM Exception 18: An attempt was made to break through the security policy of the user agent.

it all seems related to this one although I was not attempting to do anything with 3dwarehouse …

Blocked a frame with origin “https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com” from accessing a frame with origin “http://forums.sketchup.com”. The frame requesting access has a protocol of “https”, the frame being accessed has a protocol of “http”. Protocols must match.

The majority of links are broken and I have 93 fatal errors in a couple of clicks…

john

@Barry – Is this related to the “outage” I overheard Ross talking about?

@Tommy, it may have been, I just reloaded this page and it’s back to the normal css warnings…

i.e. no fatal js errors for now…

john

Wait, so youre saying if I put in this link https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com that it wont work, on Safari? Any other browsers?

@Barry, NO, that’s link works fine, because I have to ‘click’ on it, and it’s not what I was reporting…

for the last twelve hours, navigating the forum using anything other than going via the ‘New’ button, was failing…

e.g. the dropdown from my Profile numbered list failed, the highlighted ‘others’ below the current I was reading failed…

I was always having to ‘click’ on ‘New’ and maybe ‘Unread’ for the re-direction to work…

none of the links I was clicking have anything to do with 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com they are just the internal forum navigation ones…

but when I checked with Web Inspector, that was shown as the first ‘fail’ followed by 92 others…

john

@Tommy, these are discourse errors I see in the console, nothing related to us. @john_drivenupthewall I’m responding to this in 9.1, and while I do see the errors in the javascript console, I don’t see the bad behavior in the Profile dropdown. Here’s what I’m trying:

  1. Login to forums.
  2. Type ‘p’ to get my profile pulldown.
  3. Click on any thread - works as usual.

What are you seeing?

@Barry, In my response to Tommy post, 2hrs ago, I said that it’s back to normal for me now…

sorry if that wasn’t clear…

john

normal is goooooood.

so much for normal, it’s back…

Found an instigator of the 3dwarehouse error message…

If I click on a new post link to any threads that contain model links, I start getting the error and navigation goes downhill…

for example truss-plugin-extension link will start the problems, and a page reload is needed to fix things…

other errors come from other types user content including blocked Yahoo.com and some of Google ad-link ones…

it only take a couple of these errors before general navigation is affected…

john

I’m also on 9.1 and haven’t (yet) encountered what John describes. I don’t know if it is related to John’s report, but in the Web Inspector panel I see 6 javascript errors about security violations (https access to a http frame) and 18 warnings about CSS issues.
