Roll back from Sketchup Pro 2017 to Make

Hi,
I’m a home user and want to use the “Make” version.
Installed Sketchup Pro on my laptop a year ago for trail and stopped using it.
Opened the SW now and it prompt error that it can’t reach the license server. from what I read online, Sketchup should roll back to the “Make” version once the trail end. didn’t happen in my case.
Tried to use the “remove the license” option - no luck.
Uninstalled the SW, downloaded the “Make” version from the site and installed it - the Pro version is installed and the same “Cannot connect to server” error appear.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Connect your machine to the internet so it can contact the server?

Make 2017 does give you 30 days of trying it as Pro. You don’t need to enter a serial number, and I don’t think it needs to contact the server.

When the 30 days run out it isn’t obvious what you’re supposed to do. At the bottom of the welcome screen will be an I Agree button. You need to agree that you’re not going to use SketchUp for commercial purposes, and when you do agree, it then becomes the Make version.

Hi alonbomatz,
There is a licensing log file named C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 2017\liclog.txt. I wonder if the information in that file might shed a little more light on the problem

My laptop was connected to the internet… still got this error…

Try editing the liclog.txt file [make a back up copy in case you mess it up so all is not lost !]
At the end of the file try editing it to read…

-----
Exe path: C:/Program Files/SketchUp/SketchUp 2017/SketchUp.exe
Version: 17.2.2555
Support dir: C:/Program Files/SketchUp/SketchUp 2017/Support
Is Make: 1
Acknowledged non-commercial use
Disconnected operation
No Pro license found
Stat after trial checkout = -1
Trial checkout failed:
No license for product (-1)
Make trial contingency in effect
Overall stat = -49
Checkout failed
No license for product (-1)

Note how it differs from yours - an expired Pro license is no the same as a Make license from the kick-off…

One thing you may have done is install SketchUp Pro 2017 thinking it would become Make after 30 days. That would be true for the 2016 version, but not for 2017.

Try this installer instead:

Hi,
My log show this:
Exe path: C:/Program Files/SketchUp/SketchUp 2017/SketchUp.exe
Version: 17.2.2555
Support dir: C:/Program Files/SketchUp/SketchUp 2017/Support
Is Make: 1
Disconnected operation
Overall stat = -43
Checkout failed
Bad server hostname in license file or port@host (-43)
Bad hostname for network connect (-131)
Eval expired: 0
Set product family = 7

I’m able to edit it but every time I launch Sketchup, it will return to this state (even if I erase the file)

Tried to uninstall the application and use your suggested link - same issue.
BTW, I think the original installer I used is the same as you gave here.
