Hi Sjaak . Very interesting
I’m a film set carpenter , been using sketchup, self taught in a ad hoc fashion for two decades now but my skill set is based on a learn as required form , which has obviously left many holes in my ability to work efficiently.
Moving on to your post , my daughter is 13 and we would both like her to learn to use sketch up properly from the ground up .
I’ve been looking for appropriate structured course books to get her started on the right path .
Maybe your publications would be a good start ?
Further to that I’m also interested in what student licences are available and what my daughter’s secondary school has in place regarding licence log ins .
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Best regards
Simon
Thanks for that Herman .
However , I pay for pro subscription myself , my daughter could log in on my account .
I was wondering if there was free access to children wishing to learn 3d modelling…
Apparently not .!
Many thanks for your reply .
Would be interested in any recommendations you might have for print version tutor books.
Best regards
Simon
If you want to test a SketchUp for schools license, and write an educational book about it is probably impossible for you to get one, but the SketchUp for web and the SketchUp Go will give you access to all the tools of an SketchUp for Schools license. it even runs on the web unlike the pro and studio versions, you can’t install any extension on them, you get just native tools, if you are a pro user you must know that basic tools are important for beginners, they develop your imagination on how to creat something having a limited set of tools, at the end most of the extensions just make some tasks that can be done with native tools but a lot faster, but its important to understand how does the program works so you can now what is the extension doing and as its created by humans, it could have some problem that could be fixed if you know how its done natively.
The iPad version has also native tools and its included with the go version in case you want to try it and write a book about it.
