Push/Pull on an angled object

Hello everyone. I’m a newbie and took the intro course and I’ve been doing mostly OK, but I can’t figure out how to push/pull (extend) an object at the same angle the object was rotated to. Instead it pulls at what looks to be horizontally. I just want to extend the roof joists by 1" on this end.

Thank you!

Push/Pull works perpendicularly to the face. For what you want to do you can select the end face and its edges (double click on the face with the Select tool) and then use Move to stretch the rafter.

There’s also a tool in the 1001bit suite - 1001bit.com - Architectural Tools for Sketchup

he’s in sketchup web

Won’t work in SketchUp for Web, though. SketchUp for Web can’t utilize extensions.

ah, right, yes… oops, sorry.

…it’s a good argument for moving onto a desktop version

OMG, that worked perfectly! And now I learned something else too–that you can use the Move tool to extend objects. I’ve awkwardly been using only the Push/Pull tool. Thanks so much!

You’re welcome.

The Move tool is very often the tool for the job for resizing things. It’s the proverbial board stretcher.
