Problem with lines during 2d graphic export (DWG)

Hi,

I am trying to export an Isometric drawing to autocad. I am working in colour by tag mode to give lines colour corresponding to thier respective tags (window glass, window frames, walls, internal walls etc so I can control linewights in autocad later to finetune the drawing. However on export I get white lines in strange places that are not per se visible in sketchup view. Any Ideas how to solve this? For example, I want to have a light blue line all around the window glass but sometimes I get only a fragment in blue and the rest is white. Ofcourse, then these lines are also fragmented. I don’t have hidden geometry there, all is made of groups and components (including dynamic) that are tagged (faces and edges untagged ofc).

Hi there @henk. Thanks for the post. We are happy to help you out and while one of our sages or other users may have a better idea of what is going on, usually one of the first things they will ask is if the file can be shared or not. We can work from screenshots too (and thanks for sharing those) but examining the file can often help us to better help you.

If the file is confidential and can’t be shared, I am sure our sages and other users will do their best to help you out although it may take a little longer.

Personally, I would love to assist you myself, but my work laptop only has SketchUp installed so I probably won’t be much help.

Are you exporting a 2D image? I would guess that the white lines you get are profile lines, not edges. Profile colour doesn’t follow the “by material” setting, it is always black/white. You might try turning Profiles off in your style.

I myself would skip the painting of edges but put the objects I need to separate on different tags, take the model into LayOut, separate the tags into separate copies of the iso viewport and give the viewports the lineweights I need. I, though, never use lineweights to separate objects as they are notoriously difficult for the eye to discern, but only use weights as a visual aid as in the ISO standard: thin lines= lines on surface, medium lines= jumps in space, thick lines= objects cut by the plan or section view. This can be achieved directly with SketchUp style settings.
