Hi guys, very new to Blender and SketchUp. Hope you can help me with this.
Created an object in blender and when I import it in SketchUp, the materials don’t stay and my object is separated into verticles, so I can’t color it in SketchUp either.
How do I keep my object without verticles so that I can edit it properly and how do I keep the materials while importing?
You can’t. the .dae file is triangulated. In order to have a surface you must have all those vertices. After you import the file into SketchUp you can select the geometry and use Soften/Smooth edges to make the edges not show.
I’m a student, the SketchUp licence was part of my softwares that I bought for my diploma. I gratued not long ago so I’m still on that plan, but this project is only for fun.
Hi everyone, glad to see that you are enjoying SketchUp angyyez that you are doing a project for fun. I hope that you continue to have a lot of fun with 3D design. As DaveR said though, make sure that you are using the license only for what it is intended for.
As I am not a member of our legal team and don’t have details about your project I can not say if you are or are not doing so but if you do end up needing a full license we offer a number of solutions these days at different prices so I am sure that you can find something that will allow you to use SketchUp for many years to come going forward.
Now that all that is out of the way, I just wanted to say that your work that you posted has my interest. I would love to see what your project is going forward and hope that you continue to post about it. I love to see all the creative uses that users have for SketchUp!
