I made a template I wish to print Tabloid Size (11" × 17") in parallel projection.
When I try to print it, the model disappears.
Please help me resolve this issue.
I’m not sure why this is happening.
Sketchup 24.0.595, on M1 Mac running Mac OS 15.3.2 Quick Vise Jaw Template 2.skp (16.7 KB)
I would suggest that you use LayOut to set up a view of the model on the 11x17 paper and export that to a PDF file. Then print that. This shows your vise jaw at 1:1 on the paper if printed without scaling. vise jaw.pdf (54.7 KB)
Dimensioning done in LayOut instead of SketchUp: vise jaw.pdf (10.1 KB)
By the way, the model was shifted off to the left in the scene. I corrected that to center camera over the model.
FWIW, this is a print preview from SketchUp 2025. The model is shown but it’s at some random size.
This is a template I attach to the workpiece so I know where to drill the holes. So I need a 1:1 scale and a continuous view from at least one side that captures all the holes to be drilled.
Good enough. sometimes you won’t need the whole thing or it wouldn’t be practical to print the whole thing so keep the idea of splitting the part across two viewports in your back pocket.
Or as I’ve done for clients - several pages with match marks so they can tape them together and take them to the shop. Similar principle applies when you don’t have a plotter.
Another option is to set up the viewport on a large sheet of paper and then use the Poster print option in Adobe Reader or Acrobat (and probably other PDF readers) to print on smaller paper.
