Possibility of using an mp4 video as a custom material

I have a client whose needs require an animation to be played on the 3D object we are designing. For example, extrude a simple block shape and then use the material editor(or some other method) to add an mp4 file that I can ‘paint’ onto a side of the block. which would play the mp4 while moving around the block.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

have you tried it or do you base your message just on the warning ?

The info on the extension warehouse means that the dev has not greenlit their extension since 2015. doesn’t necessary mean it won’t work, you need to try.

there are many reasons why the dev might not have updated the status, from an obsolete project to various personal reason…
