Since the elaborated options for textures exist (wich is cool in itself), we often experience problems with textures. If a coworker makes a copy of a file, or copy-pastes geometry from one file to another, this often results in a faulty texture, with the text ‘invalid texture’ plotted on the texture in the model. Please find a way to fix this!! Incorporating all the used texture images directly into the model-file would simply solve it? It’s worth the extra mB’s!!!
Perhaps upgrade to the current version of SketchUp 2026. SketchUp 2025 won’t get any more updates.
I think this is related to older versions of Enscape
Hi Elmtec,
the textureproblem I mean, is entirely Sketchup. It occurs when you add textureimages for metalness, roughness et cetera (native, in Sketchup I mean). Those images get lost when you move the SketchUp file (or copies of it), which of course happens often when you work in a design team and build upon the work of colleagues.
do you all have the exact same installs ? same plugins, same rendering tools, same versions ?
I have yet to see the issue you describe, it’s an odd one.
do you have such a broken file maybe ? and the non broken original ?
Ah gotcha; that’s why I’m getting confused - many people had this when with Enscape because they were expecting the textures to embed in the SketchUp file; but for whatever reason were not.
my next guess would be that one of you is using a version of SketchUp that doesn’t support the new graphics engine and is then stripping data and breaking it for someone else.
Or someone has metalness turned off.
Or someone has the graphics engine turned off.
Or perhaps someone has been letting SKP purge - but I don’t know what that does to those features as I don’t use them.
