I don’t use sections very often for my work but every now and again I get a request.
Here’s a little model intended to represent some before and after landscaping I’ve been asked to produce…
Pretty simple huh? My question is why are the red and green axes not aligned in
front of each other? I’ve loaded this straight into a new file and not messed with the axes at all… what have I missed?
section query.skp (13.0 MB)
your section cut isn’t vertical, it’s slightly rotated.
rotate it so it’s perfectly vertical, then align view will work

Well if I choose that option its for-shortening the full length of the section, which I don’t think the client would want.
I guess I could rotate the section and all entities to align with this front view which would fix it.
Thanks for the suggestion
How bizarre I have no idea how the section isn’t vertical, and thanks for spotting it
How did you get the rotate tool to align with the section and perpendicular to it like that?
keep pressing.
edit : wait I posted to fast. I was about to make a video
when you start your rotation, if you press (instead of clicking) you can set the axis of rotation where you want.
