Object Material Not Showing in Matched Photo View

Hi, I’m having a problem where I can’t see the materials on objects through the Matched Photo, no matter how much I turn down foreground opacity. I don’t want the image gone in the foreground…I want the Matched Photo to be seen, & also the object textures. Is this possible?

What happens if you turn off the foreground and leave the background image visible?

What version of SketchUp are you using? If 2024, which graphics engine are you using?

Here’s what happens:

It’s also not what I want to see.

I’m using Sketchup Version 24.0.554, on a MacBook Pro (M2 Max GPU)

You modeled the walls and ceiling, so those are showing. Perhaps hide those to get what you want?

How about projecting the image onto the walls?

What graphics engine are you using in SketchUp 2024?

Please edit your profile to add the version number.

I mean, it kinda works, but it’s super dark, & looks odd from any other camera angle.

It would be great if Sketchup had a simple function for this problem.

what are you trying to show in this image exactly ? that you added the wooden elements in the ceiling ?

then your issue is that the ceiling and walls are not hidden. you only need the addons you’re making to appear here.

Yes, that is what I’m trying to show.

The issue is that I want the addons to be shown with texture, in front of the image. If I hide the walls & ceiling, the addons still aren’t shown the way I want them to be shown.

I mentioned this in my first post above, and so did ateliernab, but you would need to hide or delete the walls & ceiling you drew, because those are obscuring the photo you want to show through.

Ah ok, so hiding the walls & ceiling did work, in that now I can see the textures of the addons… but the overall effect is not as seamless as I’d hope, or intuitive. The room is there, but seeing the lines & other elements ties it all together better, IMO.

If any Sketchup programmers see this, it’d be great to tweak this Photo Match feature so that it all comes together nicely, & it’s possible to see the photo & all model elements without obstruction. Otherwise, it’s a great feature to have.

well off course there is obstruction. it’s a simple 2d photo that is either in front or in back of the model.
so in the back of the room, the wall elements appear on top of the chairs and tables. off course.
How is sketchup supposed to know (and decide) what part of the photo is in front or behind part of the model ?

Photomatch is a good tool but it often requires a photo editor to correctly insert / blend the 3d in the photo space.
In general, the next step is to open both the photo and the 2d export you’ve made and masking things that should be hidden on the original photo.

also, you could try removing the lines and profiles in your style, to get rid of all the black lines (just like in the real world). it could help a bit.
