No way to create groups or components in SU Go?

Is this for real? You can’t make, open or close Components in Sketchup Go? I’ve looked and looked for how, but I’m not seeing any way to do it

No! It’s not for real. You can indeed create groups and components in SketchUp Go.

component

  1. Select the geometry, right click, choose Make Component.
  2. Select geometry, right click, choose Make Group.
  3. Select geometry, tap G to Make Component.

What is it you’re trying to do to create a component or group?

Oooooooh! Thanks DaveR! I’ve been using Google’s Sketchup for years and years and Components/Groups are a dropdown there. You totally got me back on track tonight. Thanks again  :+1:

Wow! It hasn’t been Google SketchUp in more than a decade. The method of making groups and components hasn’t changed, though, not even in the web-based versions, except that there’s no Edit menu which, on the desktop version, also offers the Make Component and Make Group commands. Right click, Context menu, and keyboard shortcuts have always been the preferred methods, though.

FWIW, usually you would mark the post that solved your problem as the solution rather than your own.

Oops, sorry. I’m new here… I think I bought SketchUp in 2008. I played with the free trial for a couple of hours and that was all it took. It was THE answer. Hoping that Go will meet my needs. So far, so ok
