Newly created component is not a solid

I created a simple component, a 2x2 bar and when I import it into a new project it has nested instances. How is it possible?

First thought, hidden geometries?

But what is the problem, “the component is not a solid”, or the “unexpected instances nested within”?

Hard to determin without inspecting the model, maybe you can share it here (if it’s to big, use dropbox or something simular)

I guess you created a component within model, then you imported that model. The model itself is “wrapping context” for your component in it.
In other words, a model itself became a component in the other model you imported into.

I found a solution but it seems strange. I double-clicked the object and deleted the underlying component in Outliner and that was it. A consequence of this is that whenever I import something into my project I have to do this for the imported object to become a solid?

When you want to save a component to disk, use the right-click>Save As function to save a copy of the component in a separate file.
