Short version: If I go to the 3d warehouse and search for “cedar” there is almost nothing there. Where did it all go and how do I get to it?
Hi. Been using Sketchup for eons (For Web for the last however many years), and just upgraded to Pro. Feels both familiar and like a strange new world.
Having a problem w/ the 3D Warehouse. In the For Web product, I had access to what seemed like the full library of components, collections, and materials with some download limitations.
If I wanted a cedar lap siding material, I could find hundreds of options.
Yesterday, I upgraded to Pro. Now, when I go to the 3d warehouse, it feels completely empty. If I search for “cedar” and filter by materials, there are exactly 2 results.
Since I don’t see 50 threads about this, I assume there’s no bug and that I must be doing something wrong.
in short, materials used to be automatically extracted from models, for better or worse.
now they have to be manually uploaded, better quality, lower number.
but in the search filters, bottom choice, you can turn the extracted materials back on.
also, you should have a look at architexture and lightbeans (free plugins for sketchup pro), you’ll find an overall better quality.
Hey, that did it. Thanks so much. Probably a good choice not to make the warehouse a free-for-all by default. But there sure are a lot of really good models and materials that were hidden along with the junk.
