I had high hopes for the new environments and features like ambient inclusion but it keeps crashing my pc and I have a decent graphics card, RTX 4070 and 32G RAM. I am not sure why software would be designed not to run on the latest processors? I have tried assigning the dedicate information in the NVDIA control panel but it does no good. About Ready to change after 16 years of using SketchUp. I hesitate to post here because it seems I get little response but I am trying before i ditch SketchUp and go to Revit.
it is.
well, your last two threads didnāt really give any info, in one you say the styles are changing on their own, the other is about materials, but you donāt provide before / after shots, or even problematic SU + LO files, so yeah, not much to say about that.
you say youāre getting bugsplats, do you send them ? do you have a bugsplat number so Colin or Barry can have a look at it ?
In my post I describe the problem but this is what I get here on every post. No one helping just criticisms.
Did you ignore this part **ānew environments and features like ambient inclusion but it keeps crashing my pc and I have a decent graphics card, RTX 4070 and 32G RAMā I also asked s anyone else having this issue"
I wish SketchUp would get their tech support to help with forums. All I get here is ego.
I have been running 2025 daily since release and have not received any bugsplats related to the graphics engine. Have you been signing your splats and sending them in? If so, @colin may be able to see what the issue is.
and in 18 years of using SketchUp I have never been contacted about a bugsp;at report I have sent. This must be a joke.
Are you using both the new environments and ambient inclusion? Thanks
I am getting a message from SketchUp saying use classic graphics engine if SketchUp is crashing so I know this is the problem.
The development group does not proactively reach out for bugsplats, but you adding your info allows people in QA to look into the message.
I have been using AO, PBR materials, and environments on every model since release.
On small models I have no problems but on the large ones it will give a bugsplat after about an hour. But like I said, my pc is basically new and has a RTX470 and 32G ram which I ordered specifically for CAD work. I have no issues on Revit or Chief Architect or AutoCaD which I have versions of and am trying before I quit SketchUp after 18 years because I feel like this type of thing should be worked out prior to releasing versions.
crashes ? yeah. for various reasons. same crashes as you ? no idea. I donāt think so. havenāt seen any case of styles abruptly changing on someoneās file. Iād sure like to poke at a file that does it.
questions. not criticism.
yep, lot of ego in this forum.
So, let me ask again, and keep in mind Iām not criticising, Iām asking a question :
you say youāre getting bugsplats, do you send them ? do you have a bugsplat number so Colin or Barry can have a look at it ?
it could be compatibility. it could be something in your file. it could be weight or geometry overload. it could be a plugin not playing nice. it could be a problem of authorisation with your storage. it could be cloud related, if you store in a cloud. it could be a problematic character in a folder or file name. it could be a very specific screen resolution or refreshing rate (no kidding, weāve seen a very specific case recently). it could be human factor.
so when you ask if weāve had the same crashes and how comes they were not buffed before release, all I can says is⦠no idea. need more info.
Yes, I always send the bug crashes with info but never hear back. I have been using Sketchup since 2006 and have never heard back from a bug splat
They know what the issue is. They have a custom message telling you to switch back to classic engine so they know of the issue. I am trying to get people together who are experiencing this and try to get them to address it or at least say they are.
weāre going somewhere.
the message is automated. itās provided when there is a problem related to the rendering engine. still, there are many different things that could cause it. there is no ātheyā who knows. itās just a bot.
good. the second part of my question was "can you give us the number of the crash report next time you get a crash ?
yes, because
No, like I said, I am very experienced with SketchUp behavior and it is directly related to the new environments and Ambient occlusion and again, their error message addresses this by having you switch back to the classic engine
yeah me too. Iām also quite experienced in bugsplat reports now.
and Iām telling you, when you send a bugsplat report, IF the system can identify the global cause (for example the engine) youā will get an automated notice telling you to do a āradicalā step like turning back to the old engine.
doesnāt mean the devs know why youāre crashing. just that itās engine related.
before I invest any more time and energy, are you here for an answer, a solution, or just to vent and rant ?
Share a model.
Share a bugsplat number.
Otherwise you are at the doctors office but refuse to take a blood test, share any specific symptoms when asked about them, and just say āI know what is it, you should fix itā - when the doctor needs to understand the problem before they put you on painkillers when maybe you just need to get the pebble out of your shoe.
That is very obvious
if you donāt want to wait for Colin or Barry, you can also log a technical support request
https://help.sketchup.com/en/contact-support/technical-question/form
because in the end, this is just an user forum.
I told what the issue is and asked if anyone else was experiencing it. The new environments and ambient occlusion are crashing the pc. They even have a custom message telling you to switch back to the classic graphics engine. I donāt need your smug doctor office analogies. That is ridiculous.
Iāll not experiencing it.
So now what?
Record the next bugsplat number you get and post it here so one of the dev team can look it up.
The more information you give, the easier this might be to diagnose the problem.
Are you running plugins? Does it crash with them disabled?
Do you have lots of models from the 3d warehouse in the file that is crashing?
Can you share a file that crashes?
Do you have lots of large textures?
Are your graphics drivers up to date from NVIDIA?
Did Windows recently update?
Are you using multiple monitors? Does it crash when you only use one?
