Model not printing as expected. It’s approx. 3 1/2" X 1 1/2". Shows up in 3D printer (Creator Pro) as tiny. When I print it, it has a print time of 10 seconds and only prints one little thread. What am I doing wrong?
I’m not an expert, but I do know that STL files are dimensionless, so when you bring something into your slicing software via STL, you have to do something to get the scale right. I know it doesn’t just happen automatically. Maybe someone more experienced can be more helpful.
Many 3d printers are metric based and do not convert imperial measurements to metric. They just assume the unit of measure is metric, so your 3 1/2" become 3.5mm.
In Sketchup, open the properties tab and change the units from inches to mm and set the precision to 0.000. That will make Sketchup convert the inches to the appropriate mm and save accordingly. I spent much time fighting this until I figured it out.
