.NET 4 installation fails

After I accept the EULA for .NET 4, the setup fails, saying
“Setup has detected that the file ‘C:\Users\cblinn\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD58F1.tmp\DotNetFX40\dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe’ has changed since it was initially published.”

I can’t manually install .NET 4 since I’m on a school network and .exe downloads are blocked. Do I need to ask admin to install .NET 4 or is there another workaround?

This sounds like the setup does a checksum test that failed (the .Net 4 installer is corrupted).

So to better understand the situation, you can install software (like SketchUp) without admin, but only the admin can download .exe files? From where did you get SketchUp, and from where did you get .Net 4 (through windows update?)?

Yep, I agree installer does a checksum that fails.

Since I don’t have .NET 4, Sketchup tries to install it for me.
Quoting from the log file:
Downloading ‘DotNetFX40\dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe’ from ‘http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=182805

I can download the Sketchup install .exe from Download All | SketchUp and run the installer. I don’t know how the webfilter is set up, but I can’t download the .NET installer .exe from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=17851, (Sorry, files from: exe are not accessible in the microsoft category.)
