Need some advice on how to build a shape and round the corners

Yes, I do! All you need to do is re-soften the edges. Simply triple click to select all surfaces, then right-click and choose Soften/Smooth Edges. In the Smooth dialog, check Soften Coplanar.

That was partly it…didn’t notice that I was once again fighting an object that was to small. had to upscale another 10x and that filled in all the missing geometry and everything looks good now. Thanks Aaron.

ok…so I see what’s happening now…It’s when I save. Everything works great until I save and then the corner geometry disappears taking it back to the tessellated condition.

Trying again…I’m totally lost. I have overlaps every time I use the roundcorner plugin. It completely breaks the object. Any thoughts from anyone.

You’ve managed to make a shape that defies all basic rounding. The particular geometry of the convex face is causing problems for various plugins, scaling and reskining.
If you look at the hidden geometry of the face you can see where the problems come from. But I’ve had a fiddle and can’t actually find a way that doesn’t break, even moving vertices around.

What is the final product you are after, render, 3d print, shop drawing?

You could just ctrl eraser the edges to soften them if it’s simply a visual you need.

Box, thanks for taking the time…It’s going to be 3d printed. I haven’t been working on this since thursday but I have been thinking about it…I made the ends of this shape to be off angle from the radius of the circles that make up the front and back planes. Is that causing the problem? What if I just made them a ray from the center of outside circle, would that solve the problem?

When I do a save of your file I’m asked if I want to fix problems, and SketchUp fixes these things:

It is possible to manually fix the holes in the corners, and they remain fixed. This picture shows how you can use the 2 Point Arc tool to connect the two sides, and how you would make the arc be tangent at vertex, and then draw edges to create the faces.
