My Model Has Disappeared!:((((

Yesterday at night I was working on my model and it was complete as usual. Today, when opening it, most of the model is gone. Only the bottom part is left which is really weird. I tried hitting the undo button several times. I checked if my groups were hidden (they’re gone), and I’ve searched for every possible explanation to why my model suddenly is incomplete. Aside from saving my model, my settings are set to “auto-save”. I’m working on the IPad so I checked the “files” app to try and open it from what was already saved and it won’t open, please someone help!!!

Share the .skp file with us so we have some hope of helping you resolve this.

Could you zoom back from the model, select all, and show a screenshot of what you get?

Maybe ‘‘Section Cut’’ is enabled?

Please share the .skp file. We can’t do anything with a screenshot.

How do i do that?

Download it to your device and drag it into a reply here. If it’s larger than 16 Mb upload it to DropBox or We Transfer and then share the link to it.

Thanks. The issue that I was checking for looks like it wasn’t happening.

This is all there is in your model: The scale figure at the origin and a bunch of ungrouped geometry.

I deleted the scale figure and purge the unused component and its materials. You can see that with your geometry selected, Entity Info and Statistics confirm that’s all the geometry in the model.

Is there an older copy of the file saved in your Trimble Connect storage?

No there isn’t!!! But there was a full house built there, with stairs and everything. It was all grouped i don’t understand.

I don’t know exactly what happened in your case but a common reason for groups to go missing is the user accidentally selecting Erase instead of Hide in the context menu.

My suggestion going forward is to save your file locally and also save it to your Trimble Connect storage. Each time you save it to Trimble Connect the save is incremental so you the older versions are kept and you can go back to an earlier version if needed.
