My Architectural Drawings, Renderings and Animations

Ausgezeichnet! Yours looks more realistic or doable to me.

Thanks a lot RTCool! But I think both designs have one thing in common: a static engineer would need to add a lot of things. A lot of steel beams and pillars under the ceilings :joy:

And, a friend of mine mentioned one thing: I planted a lot of trees and shrubs around the house - above the treeline/timberline.

If your spans are reasonable (less than about 8 meters), a cast in place column and slab construction would be quite feasible, with no visible beams. The corner cantilever might be a bit too much, though.
Ha - there is a column at a corner of the stair on the upper floor, with nothing under it on the lower level.

Yes you are right. Under both upper-level-columns isn´t anything below. Would look like this with colums:

Omit the columns altogether. You’ve spent this much money, don’t cheapen the design Put more steel in the structure. Good job!

Nice kitchen! She’s really good, for being added in PS.

Thanks a lot pbacot!
Yes, to omit the columns would be the right way. Hm, the bearing-lenght is 7,51 m. Could work…but there are a lot of holes in the walls. Getting enough rigidity would be a problem.
Whatever - it´s not a real project anyway. But I think for my animation I get rid of the columns.

The floor is where you may have more loads, though I may be wrong at that altitude the snow loads will be something! I am helping on house plans now where the span is just the same. The roof is supported by beams hidden in the roof structure the full span. The rafters run between. They are engineered lumber beams with steel plates. However we have no snow. Funny the last house has a bath like that–the corner doors slide open without a post --but with a guard rail. Not quite that view! but a good one.

Now I did an Animation Interior/Exterior:

Hope you like it.

Rendered with RTX 2080Ti in Lumion 10 Pro. Video editing with Final Cut.

A little project:
To practice realistic rendering, I did this little scene, based on a rendering I´ve seen online.
Rendertime with Lumion 10 & RTX 2080Ti in 3840 x 2160 (UHD): 55 seconds. In 1920 x 1080: 14 seconds.

My SketchUp-Model:

Rendering with Lumion, without postprocessing:

Rendering with Lumion without postporcessing, another camera angle:

That floor texture is particularly nice. Strictly swap out of SketchUp material for Lumion? Looks like it has a bump map with it.

that looks just great!

Yes that´s a prefab Material from Lumion, like every other Material in the scene.
The only thing to care about in SketchUp is, to apply separate Materials for each object. And it´s not even necessary to use textures in SketchUp.

These look excellent!

I’m considering Lumion myself so would appreciate your thoughts.

Mike

PS. Can’t believe you left the dog outside :grinning:

Thanks a lot Michael!
Ah, you noticed the dog! Yes, having a dog myself, I am not very happy with the “storytelling” in this scene. But did you notice that there is also a kid playing soccer in the garden? The next scene would be that the dog is playing together with the kid soccer :grinning:

Lumion:
I think it is a great tool, but compared to Twinmotion not very cheap. Lumion needs to be online all the time, what I don´t like. Workflow from SketchUp to Lumion works 100%. It comes with a lot of furniture, plants and Staffage, but I always mix it: A lot of stuff I place in SketchUp, additional things in Lumion. It is possible to live-sync Lumion with SketchUp (a two-monitor-setup would be recommendable). But I don´t use that. I build up the scene in SketchUp, save it, then import the model to Lumion. Great thing: If any changes are necessary in the SketchUp model later on, you can simply import the model again into Lumion and all settings you made in Lumion already still remains.
And consider one thing: When it comes to rendering, you do need fast PC-Hardware. And Lumion is only available for Windows-PCs. But Twinmotion works both on Mac an Windows.

I like your website!
What software did you use to do your Renderings?

Hi Peter

Many thanks for the info on Lumion. Much appreciated and very helpful.

At the moment I have Twinmotion in my iMac but it has to be said the latest release is very unstable. They also seem to have removed some features, which seems odd to me.

Lumion having to be online all the time would not be a huge problem with me as I would only use it in my office at home.

I am seriously considering replacing my iMac with a PC and am in the process of pricing one up and The more I think about it the more I think I’m going to do it. There just seems to be more out there for PCs.

For those renders, the early ones were done using Thea Render but then, because Apple decided not to use NVidia cards anymore, I had to stop using that as my MacBook Pro and iMac have AMD GPUs. Most of those renders were done in Twinmotion.

The main reason for looking at PCs is because I want to do more renderings as part of my offering to Clients and the PC route would allow me to do that. Lumion is expensive but it does look exceptionally good and fairly easy to use.

Renderings: Penthouse.
The Building itself is designed by H.G. Blickle, Germany, Albstadt. I modeled it with Allplan (I have to use this program in my daily job as an architecture draftsman). Then I exported it to SketchUp and placed all furniture, accessories, doors and did the up front materials.
Lumion 10: Material Replacements/Refinements, Humans and Renderings.
The Environment is made with Open Street Maps within Lumion, but the two buildings on the left and right are part of the CAD Model. Their Height and Size are equally to the real-life Measurements.

Hello Forum,
in the last months I was very busy doing a lot of typically work as an architectural draftsman (in my case with the CAD-Software Allplan), but in the last two days I made the following Renders using SketchUp and for the first time: Enscape.
Greetings, Peter

EDIT:
Deleted the Renderings. Sadly I noticed, that some guys took some of my renderings and used them for his own Purpose - without asking or paying me. :rage:

EDIT2:
Meanwhile I watermarked my Renderings. Here they are again:

Very nice! Are the floating rectangles light sources for the renders? The model is one way, but the renders are all mirrored?

Thanks a lot Robert! Yes, the rectangles are light sources to light up the scene beside the sun. For each scene I used different additional light sources.

Mirror:
You are very attentive! The building contains two flats with mirrored living aeras per floor. Except one thing: The flats on the left have one extra room, right beside the living room (this door is shown in the rendering with the sofa).

So I worked on the left flat, but I noticed, that there is an existing building on the property left. On the right there is a wood. Renderings with trees in the background are of course a lot nicer than with an existing building. This is why I mirrored the Renderings in Photoshop. Except the Renderings with the sofa and the door to that extra room.
