Can anyone help with troubleshooting my mouse on pro? I upgraded from the web version to pro recently, and took a serious step down in the use of my mouse. I can’t get the thumb wheel to respond in the pro version. It works great on the free version. I am on a Mac (Sequoia), running the new Pro version of sketchup, and have a MX master 3s for mac. I have tried restarting, resetting defaults on the mouse, and checking forums, but not getting it to work yet. I also checked to see if sketchup was installed more than once, but only seeing one copy. The logi tech screen indicates that I should have horizontal scroll in sketchup, but no luck.
SketchUp isn’t officially supported in Sequoia yet - so it could be something is broken…
I haven’t used a Logitech in a long time - do you have the latest configuration software installed?
If you use a ‘dumb’ mouse (or a Magic Mouse) does orbit work as expected?
Logi is up to date. I did reach out to them to get their idea on addressing this issue. I don’t have a magic mouse- it was between the two when buying and it seemed from reviews that the mx had more versatility for design programs.
I have the same mouse and it works fine with SU 2024 on Sequoia. I can think of two possible explanations for issues you may be having:
- Wrong expectations. For example, the horizontal scroll wheel in the desktop version doesn’t do the same thing as in the web version. It has to do with how SketchUp desktop reacts to the mouse events sent by that device vs the way the web browser does. The desktop does not by default even react to the horizontal scroll.
- The settings for the mouse may need to be tweaked. You can use Logitech Options+ for this. SketchUp by default expects a pretty basic 3-button mouse with center scroll wheel. If you have special settings, they may not be right for SU.
Understand. Maybe I thought that the Pro version would do as much or more than the free version. Disappointing to shell out the $$ for pro and not be able to use the thumbwheel (yet).
What would you like it to do? If enough other people share your wish, it would make a reasonable feature request. But since most mice don’t have a horizontal scroll wheel, it might get low priority.
