Mouse double-clicking issues affecting SketchUp modeling

Hi everyone,

I’m running into an issue where my mouse occasionally registers a double-click even though I only click once. In SketchUp this causes problems when selecting faces, edges, or when dragging geometry.

I wanted to rule out whether this was SketchUp-specific or a general input issue, so I tested the mouse at the browser level using a simple mouse input tester:

During slow, deliberate clicks I can sometimes see two click events being registered.

Before replacing the mouse, I wanted to ask:
Is this typically a sign of a failing switch, or are there any known system-level settings or drivers that could cause this behavior in SketchUp?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

In the system mouse settings, you could check what the double-click speed is set to.

But it does sound like a hardware switch issue.

My guess is that you are witnessing a hardware failure. During the years using mouses with a computer I have seen this maybe two times. The other failures happened to the mouse wheel button. These are the two most frequently clicked buttons in my use.

Can also be caused by dirt / grime in the switch.
If mouse can be dissassmbled, clean with alcohol.

But , yes, check the system settings first. If that fails then find out if your mouse has specific Drivers and install those to grant access other settings.

thanks guys。I tested it multiple times with this mouse test tool and finally determined that it was a hardware problem. I need to buy a new one.
